Retail & marketplace charges

Retail and marketplace charges may show the platform that handled an order instead of the individual seller or storefront. Amazon uses regional AMZN MKTP descriptors, while purchases from independent online stores can display Shopify or Shopify Payments wording. One order may also create several charges when items ship separately, sellers fulfil different parts, or a temporary authorisation is replaced by the final amount.

Search order history using the amount, transaction date, and the last digits of the payment card. Check archived orders, digital purchases, household profiles, and regional marketplace accounts. For Shopify-based purchases, search email and messages for order confirmations because the bank description may not reveal the store name. Currency conversion, local tax, shipping, and partial shipment billing can explain small differences between an order screen and the settled bank amount.

If you find the order, contact the seller through the marketplace or the contact details in the receipt for cancellation, delivery, or refund questions. Avoid relying on a merchant name found through an unverified search result. If no order matches, secure the marketplace account, review sign-in history and saved cards, and contact the platform. Escalate to your bank if the platform confirms that the charge is not tied to your account.
