Question 1

Why does my Uber charge say UBER* TRIP instead of Uber?

Accepted Answer

UBER* TRIP is Uber's payment processing descriptor. The asterisk separates the company name from the charge type. This is the normal way Uber charges appear on bank and card statements.

Question 2

Why am I charged more than the fare shown in the app?

Accepted Answer

The app fare is the base ride cost. Your bank statement may include a tip added after the trip, a booking fee, or a toll that was billed separately. Check your trip receipt in the Uber app for a full breakdown.

Question 3

How do I dispute an UBER* TRIP charge?

Accepted Answer

Open the Uber app > Your Trips > select the trip > tap Help > Fare Adjustment. If the charge is completely unrecognised, contact your bank to initiate a chargeback.
